ANNOUNCEMENT: “EDGI” Launched for Edmonton Innovation Ecosystem Mapping

Innovate Edmonton & Urban Living Futures collaborate to map the Edmonton Innovation Ecosystem

New “EDGI” Platform aims to locate & showcase Edmonton innovators to accelerate market access

Innovate Edmonton and Toronto’s Urban Living Futures (ULF) have launched an urban innovation ecosystem map and database platform designed to help companies connect with new customers and investors, and deploy solutions more quickly through the Edmonton Great Innovations (“EDGI”) portal.

EDGI is designed to identify and promote leading Edmonton innovators and expose them to opportunities for growth, scaling, funding, and commercial success. Resulting in a map for local market innovators, the visual database ultimately allows partners, funders, and stakeholders to connect, collaborate and accelerate business growth and innovation.

Innovate Edmonton and Urban Living Futures have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) that will see Innovate Edmonton leverage the UPPlift platform through an Edmonton lens.  “We are excited to work with Innovate Edmonton and see the city continue to develop as a significant hub for innovation with a cluster of high-impact companies and organizations,” says Mikele Brack, CEO of Urban Living Futures. “Edmonton has become a preeminent innovation city, and we are pleased that Innovate Edmonton has identified UPPlift as a unique tool to manage their innovation community and support the commercialization of emerging technologies.”

Powered by UPPlift, EDGI will provide innovation ecosystem members with personalized dashboards to maintain their organization’s profile, view emerging commercial and funding opportunities, and log their progress and achievements. The platform offers a seamless application process that accelerates innovators’ responses to a wide range of innovation initiatives and opportunities published on the platform.

As Edmonton-based stakeholders register their profiles on the platform, they will be geolocated on an Edmonton Innovation Ecosystem map, facilitated by Esri Canada, for the visualization of ecosystem growth and clustering.
