The Capital City Pilots project, led by Innovate Edmonton in partnership with the City of Edmonton, lets entrepreneurs with innovative solutions pilot their products on city-owned assets to benefit the community, create jobs, and achieve sustainability. 

Your Opportunity:

  • Reporting to the Head of Capital City Pilots, the Founder Liaison & Technology Lead will oversee and coordinate municipal challenges, founder submissions, and the technology associated with the program.  The successful candidate has a flair for developing strong working relationships, is a diplomatic communicator, and is a natural at collaborating & coordinating.

Your Key Accountabilities:

  • Promotes an equitable, diverse, and inclusive work environment, and contributes to Innovate Edmonton’s ongoing pursuit of Reconciliation.
  • Helps to streamline the City’s procurement and due diligence process when it comes to novel innovations and early-stage suppliers.
  • Supports the Head of Capital City Pilots to complete due diligence on companies that are being selected to work on challenges.
  • Provides support to the founders and entrepreneurs who are working with the City of Edmonton to test projects. 
  • Assesses founders and innovators stage in technical and business maturity and makes appropriate referrals to other Innovate Edmonton programs.
  • Oversee and manage the IT platform including technical changes, updates and overall platform effectiveness.

Your Credentials:

  • Post-secondary education (degree, diploma, certificate) in related field.
  • 3+ years of IP evaluation and due diligence experience.
  • Knowledge of challenge-based solicitation, criteria, gamification, etc.
  • IT and Platform management experiences.
  • Familiarity with sustainability and urban climate goals.
  • Excels in a start-up environment with flat organizational structure and strong team collaboration. 
  • Outstanding communicator with excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Competency in digital applications.
  • Ability to maintain high-level of integrity and confidentiality.
  • Innovator by nature.
